Implement Energy Aggregation initiative for residential and small commercial customers by 2024 and achieve 50% renewable energy power procurement by 2024, initiating the shift towards greener, more affordable energy solutions.
The Energy Aggregation program was voted in on November 7th, 2023, giving City Council the authority to start energy aggregation programs. Since then, the City has become a certified aggregator with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO). The negotiated electricity generation rate is highly competitive at $0.0939 per KWh. The new rate is effective June 2025 and ends in May 2026. Eligible residents and businesses are automatically enrolled in the program, but anyone who wishes to ‘opt-out’ of the program may do so. Since the project's inception, the total community savings for electric energy aggregation is: $2,030,039.62.
